1)What is overpopulation
The population of the earth respectively the population of a country explode or grow. When the birth rate grow, the standard of living grow and the death rate sink, then we can speak about overpopulation.
2) I think there is a big gap between the overpopulation of an industrialized country and a developing country.
Here you can see (Folie) that industrialized countries have less inhabitants like the developing countries. Developing countries have 5 billion and industrialized countries have 2 billion inhabibants. The growth rate of thise countries exploded nearly at the same time. (1965-1970) But the biggest explosion was in 1990 by the developing counries. So we have here more people and we should tell apart the overpopulation of industrializes and developing countries.
3) Looking back:
At the time of the birth of Jesus Christ the population of the world had maybe 300 million people. Until in the moden time the worldpopulation grew very slowly, because of the high infant mortality. In 1800 were 1000 million people of the world- the first billion. 130 years ago doubled the population of the world, because of hygienic and medical progresses. In 1960 the worldpopulation increased to 3 billion. 15 years ago-4 billion. Here you can see (Folie) that 12 years ago the population of the world had 5 billion people and in the autumn of 1999, 6 billion. So we can be aware of a very clear (Anstieg) of the worldpopulation each year.
I think a big reason is the medical progress, because it helps people to live longer.
Present:
Between 1950 and 1999 increased the population about more then 140 per cent. In some countries is the rate of increase much higher. In the autumn of 1999 lived 6 billion people of the world. 80 per cent of them lived in developing countries and 20 per cent lived in industrializes countries.
Nowadays the world population is growing with 1,33 per cent each year. But this is much less then for 60 years- at this time grew the population with 2,04 per cent each year.
Future:
Today the rate of increase is very high. But in the future the population (weiter ansteigen)
It is impossible that in 50 years the population of the world grow over 3 until 4,6 billion people. The (Anstieg) of industrialize countries is small and the (Anstieg) of developing countries is very high.
